Kakkipallo - Shitball
History
We have created a game durin our sessions - or has the game created itself, no one can surely tell. The game is called 'Kakkipallo', Shit ball would be the direct translation, but it'd lack the certain childishness and naivity of the original, finnish name. The first time we played the game is clouded in the darkness of history, but it was sometime at the year 2001 or late 2000. It became an outdoor activity 13th of March 2004 and has evolved from the original form to 'Kakkiri' - which reminds mostly the hammer throw - to 'Kakkifrisbee' and to 'Kakkipesis' - or baseball with Kakkipallo. A new Kakkigame, 'Kakkiringette' was invented on the first month of 2008. Originally we played 'Kakkipallo' inside the Cave, where cowpiss lied on the floor because of the leaking pisswell on the otherside of the Cave's back wall. When ever the ball hit the floor, it smudged in shit and piss and most likely who ever did the next pass, tried to hit someone in the face with it. When Pekka's parents gave up the cows the amount of piss and shit diminshed. Thus the game became cleaner and more refined.
The ball
The first 'Kakkipallo'-ball was made of a bunch of plastic bags wrapped around a handfull of dirt, broken beer bottles and pieces of stone. The outer wraping was made of burlap, tied together with an iron cord. After a numerous scratches and wounds it was covered with a layer of duct tape, which has ever since been a trademark and a prequisite for any object worthy of the 'Kakki'-prefix. Afterwards we have tried many different materials for the innards of the ball, from airpocket to styrox to cardboard and just about anything. The best results we've achieved so far are the lightest ones. Though if it's windy, a light ball doesn't work outdoors.
Rules
The most important rule of Kakkipallo is the fact that the rules change all the time. The second most important is the movement, the ball should not stop at any point of time. The ball is passed from one to another by hitting, kicking or with any body part available. If the ball touches the ground it can still be rescued after a one or two bounce, as long as it doesn't stop. Of course how many times the ball bounces depends heavily from the playground, and the ball used. The third most important rule is the use of alcohol. More drunk you are, more fun the game is.
